The Winning Personality

This meeting was extra special for us because in addition to the fun theme and the usual boisterous gang, we had a few special guests visiting.  They were in town to attend the Semi Annual Conference.

Distinguished guests for the night include:

  • DTM Muthukumaran aka Super Muthu
  • DTM Victor Ong
  • Ms Ong Mei Lin (ACB, ACS)

All in, there was a total of 4 Distinguished Toastmasters in the room including DTM Hui Sang and our very own Queen Joanne Tan ;)

DTM Super Muthu kicked off the evening as our TOE and kept everyone in stitches throughout the meeting with his humorous anecdotes and commentaries of the various speakers.  He kept the mood lively and at the same time, provided insights on the various parts of the meeting.  His very easy going nature made him instantly likable and the perfect example of our theme for the evening, "The Winning Personality".

Attendees were especially inspired with DTM Victor Ong, attempting his CC10 for the 45th time.  His story about life's struggles and rising above the occasion to meet the challenges was apt, especially since we had many students and young adults in the audience.  Victor peppered his speech with anecdotes from his childhood, making his speech very personal and relateable.  From start to finish, the audience was hooked, listening with rapt attention.

Having been in Toastmasters for close to a decade already, Victor has a wealth of experience to share with the attendees who were curious about what they will get by being a Toastmaster in the long run.  For Victor, in addition to the skills that he picked up throughout his journey, there is also the the network that he gets to build cultivate, resulting in lifelong friends.  That is the most valuable part of being part of Toastmasters for him.

Victor is the  organizing chairman for the Toasmtasters Annual Conference in 2018.  If you would like to have more information about the conference or secure your seat, you can visit their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/d51ac2018/.

It was a very memorable evening for everyone who attended and we would like to thank all our guests who made time to join us.  For those who are attending a Toastmasters meeting for the first time, we hope this will not be your last and you are inspired to take action in pursuit of your goals.
