Empowering Others

Our theme for the previous meeting was Empowering Others.  This theme is something very close to our hearts because Toastmasters is all about empowering people to be the best that they can be.  All attendees also agreed that by empowering others, we also empower ourselves. What an inspirational night! The following were the speakers for the night. Speaker #1: Samuel Ch'ng With Chinese New Year coming up, Samuel shared his views on the taboos and beliefs that the Chinese people have in relation to the festival.  His sharing was funny and insightful at the same time. Speaker #2: Angelov Tan Our resident Angel of Love was his usual humorous self.  Angelov's speech was based on Dory of Finding Nemo.  His speech encouraged attendees to look at the bright side of things and never give up.  When things get tough, "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!" Public Speaking Tip: Presenting the Research Based Speech

At one time or another, you will be asked to present a speech or presentation based on research such as a survey of the current landscape of your industry, for instance. Presenting a speech on research is not as simple as showing the results of your analysis, you also need to prove that you used solid methods and your data is sound. Here are the elements that you must incorporate into your speech to present a solid argument for your case. 1. Your Executive Summary What is your presentation about and why did you want to do a research on this topic?  For the example above on the industry landscape, it could be because your company is looking to expand its business into a new city.  What is the demand/supply in that city for your products or services and level of competition? 2.
